Bible Verses for Depression
Finding Comfort in God's Word
In times of sadness, fear, worry, or discouragement, our instinct is often to seek comfort from others. We may turn to a spouse, friends, or family for support or find solace in earthly things, though some dangerously escape through drugs or alcohol. Let us seek comfort through God's Word. Our Bible verses for depression can guide us on our path. Touch My Heart Ministries also focuses on prison recidivism prevention through the Word of God and providing support to inmates. By spreading gospel-centered hope, we aim to break the cycle of reoffending.
Verse of the Month
My beloved, do not be discouraged, for there is a solution for every problem/situation in the Holy Bible:
“The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide and shield me], I shall not lack.’ ……………’Yes, though I walkthrough the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide] , they comfort me” (Psalm 23:1&4). (Amplified Bible). About three thousand years ago David, the shepherd boy- whom God elevated to be the king of Israel, knew the Almighty was his Shepherd. The Lord always watched over him, protected, and provided all his needs; King David was not afraid even at the darkest moment of his life.
Almost a thousand years later, God the Father sent His one and only begotten, Jesus Christ to earth, and said, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep” (John 10:11). Jesus spoke many things about being Shepherd; He knows His sheep by name, and His sheep hears His voice. Let us aim for that! JESUS CAME TO GIVE LIFE NOT DEATH. (Please read John 10:1-18 and study them for your better understanding).
Today, most of the world is going through the darkest moments of their lives due to the pandemic. Many are suffering emotionally because of the unexpected loss of their loved ones, and or financial turmoil; not knowing how to move on with their lives. Thus, some become lonely, depressed, and take their life in their own hands which breaks my heart.
I urge you my beloved, immerse in the Word of God; meditate on Psalm 23, knowing God (Emmanuel) is with you always will be soothing to your soul. So, God is not only David’s Shepherd, but the whole humanities; those who follow Him.
Pray the following prayer day and night, as many times as you can:
“God Almighty, my Shepherd, take away the fear from my heart, control my thoughts, mind, heart, my lifestyle, and increase my faith in You as great as of king David. Thank You, my Lord, and Savior.”
